What are the regulations for residents in a student residence?

We started the enrollment phase in our university residence in Barcelona and many students ask us about the rules of coexistence: what are the times of entry and exit, if you can receive visits or invite your friends to sleep, what happens if not you arrive on time to the established meal times, etc.

When our students arrive at the beginning of the year to our student residence, they must sign internal rules that are mandatory and that aim to facilitate coexistence among all residents. These are some of them:

Smoking: Smoking is not allowed in the student residence. Smoking students should go down to the street to smoke to avoid "bad fumes".

Noise: Out of respect for the rest of the residents, we ask residents to use headphones to listen to music. After 10 pm, any type of noise that could disturb the residents' rest should cease.

Visits: You can receive visits during the day and until 9 pm at the student residence, but you will not be able to stay overnight. If a relative comes to visit you for a few days, check with the address of the residence.

Schedule: Our university residence does not limit the entry or exit schedules. Each resident has their own keys to enter and leave freely. Of course, if you have gone out at night and you are late, we ask you not to make noise when you arrive so as not to wake your roommates. This is especially important if you share a double room.

With regard to meal times, our residence has ample hours for breakfast, lunch or dinner. But if you think you're not going to arrive on time, we ask you to notify the staff of the residence so they can prepare the food to take away.

Respect also the schedules of use of the washing machines and the dryers, that you will be able to use freely and without any charge for the washing of your personal clothes.

Cleaning: Keep your room in order, especially the cleaning day, to facilitate the work of our staff. Remember that the washing of sheets and towels is included and will be done on the day of cleaning your room.

Parties: Barcelona is a city with a wide range of entertainment, so if you want to celebrate a party, you can do it in any of the bars and clubs in the city, since the residence is not allowed to make parties or own or consume alcohol or illegal substances.

These are some of the rules of our student residence, which as you see, are common sense to respect your colleagues and make coexistence much more pleasant.
