Turing Scheme: The New UK Exchange Program

03-03-2021

Have you heard of the "Turing Scheme"? This program is nothing more than a new plan that replaces the UK's participation in Erasmus. Thanks to this, thousands of students will be able to study and carry out internships around the world.

With Brexit and the departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union, participation in the Erasmus program also ends. That is why this new program has been created to promote international student mobility.

Why Turing?

The Turing Scheme is named in honor of the established scientist Alan Turing, who was a British mathematician and computer scientist, with significant achievements that have been key to some of today's technological innovations and developments.

The plan will be supported by more than £ 100 million, providing funding for around 35,000 students in universities, colleges and schools to undertake stays and exchanges abroad, starting in September 2021.

Without a doubt, these are great news for students from the United Kingdom, who thanks to this plan will be able to access quality training and allow them to acquire an international experience, which is super interesting.

Turing will also target students from disadvantaged environments and areas that previously did not have many students benefiting from the Erasmus program, making the opportunities more accessible to all population groups. Furthermore, the program will provide similar opportunities for students to study and work abroad as the Erasmus program, but will include countries from all over the world and aim to offer higher returns to taxpayers.

We are sure that now that the situation seems to be improving slightly, Barcelona can be and will be one of the most popular destinations and at Barcelona Residencias Sardenya, we will be ready to offer the best accommodation to all those displaced people thanks to the “Turing Scheme”. In addition, by complementing the student line with coliving buildings, the options will be very varied, ensuring that everyone will be able to find their ideal accommodation.

In addition to gradually enjoying a warmer climate, the days are also getting longer, and personally we love it, since the day lasts much longer if at the end of classes or work, you still have a few moments of sun. Some people prefer wintertime, but we are fans of summertime and its long sunny days.
