The best sunsets in Barcelona
The sunset in Barcelona is one of the most magical moments of the day, and should be a must for anyone who wants to get a moment of relaxation at the end of the day, whether you live in Barcelona, are on holiday or have come to study temporarily in the city.
At that moment of the day, when the sky is tinged with purple and gold, it is impossible not to admire it, even from the window of your student residence room in Barcelona. However, there are certain places where the sunset becomes a masterpiece of nature. We tell you which our favorites are.
Barceloneta Beach: we put it in the first place because we believe that this beach has a special charm only for those who know how to see it; we also believe that there is no better sunset than that of a beach, and outside the summer season, it allows you to sit on the sand with a good book, walk while the sun goes down, or simply relax without more noise than the waves breaking on the shore, without crowds.
Port Vell: If you are relaxed by the sound of seagulls and the swaying of boats in the water, it is undoubtedly one of the best places to watch the sunset.
Tibidabo waterwheel: watching the sunset from this place is like being inside a panoramic postcard of Barcelona. You won't need a camera to capture the moment because the spectacular nature of what you're seeing won't allow you to pick up your mobile phone. However, it is forbidden to be afraid of heights.
Mirador del Migdia: it is located in Montjuïc, between pines and picnic tables you will find a very nice little place where you can see how the sun hides behind the mountain. You can go and spend a day in the countryside, have a picnic and wait until dusk and at night you find the Migdia Hut -which is open from Wednesday to Sunday- almost next to it. You can always breathe good vibes in the atmosphere, apart from the smell of your meat or grilled sardines, it depends on the day.
Las Arenas Shopping Centre: the old bullring has become one of Barcelona's most famous viewpoints and at its highest point there is now a restaurant, La Botiga, which offers incredible views of the city and is very affordable for students.
Carmel Bunkers: this curious place became fashionable about three years ago, as one of the essential places to see the sunset in Barcelona, and not for less. Its real name is Turó de La Rovira lookout point, but it is known as Carmel bunkers because of the neighbourhood where the ruins of the cannons and anti-aircraft batteries used during the Civil War are located. In fact, the panoramic view of the city is so complete that one can understand why this point was used to protect oneself from the enemy.
And if your student budget in Barcelona allows it, there are many hotels with incredible terraces on the roof, from which you can see the sunset with different views of the city skyline while having a drink. Check the one closest to your university residence in Barcelona and indulge yourself at least once this summer.
