The beginning of the university: how to face the return to the routine
With the month of September just around the corner it is time to think about the start of classes at the university and life in your new residence hall in Barcelona.
But you still have time to take advantage of the last days of summer vacations and enjoy a last bath at the beach and dinner at a beach bar before diving into the routine again. If only the idea is depressing, you may be suffering from post-vacation syndrome. You are not the only one, do you want to know how to fight it?
If in these days before the start of university classes you feel more irritable, apathetic, discouraged or even have anxiety or insomnia, you are probably suffering from post-vacation syndrome. Although this syndrome is always cured in a few weeks after returning to the routine, we can help you get along better:
Try to settle in your student residence a few days before the start of classes at the university. This will allow you to gradually adapt to the city, and also, knowing your new university classmates will be an extra incentive to face these first days in a more positive way. Take the opportunity to meet and know the city. If you visit the most tourist places you will still have the feeling of vacations.
Although classes have not started yet, it is also recommended that you start adapting your schedules. If you have spent your vacations going to bed and getting up late, it is time to gradually adjust to the new schedules, go to bed earlier and try not to get up too late.
Plan your new student life in Barcelona. Not everything will be going from the residence of students to class and return, take advantage of these days to find “extracurricular” that motivate you, such as joining the gym, yoga classes, painting…
Do sports, as it will help you release stress and produce endorphins (happiness hormone) that will make you feel more positive and strong enough to face whatever comes. If you like to run, take the opportunity to do it through one of the parks in the city, and start discovering your favorite places. It is also a good idea to run to the beach and be able to disconnect for a while looking at the sea. It will make you feel closer to that vacation spot that you can't get out of your head.
And last but not least, have fun! In the month of August, Barcelona celebrates many popular festivals, as they are the biggest festivals of many of its neighborhoods. Encourage your fellow students to immerse you in the life of the city and enjoy the activities and concerts that are organized in its streets.
If you follow these tips, you can surely return to the student routine without missing out on vacation. You can witheverything!
