Are you a winter sports adict? Well, you're in luck! Living in Barcelona is a privilege for those who, like you, are looking forward to the weekend to wear their skis or board. The winter offer is close to the Pyrenees, but great investments have been made in infrastructures to have very well connected the city with its ski resorts, so you can reach most of them by public transport.
BAQUEIRA- BERET- BONAIGUA: maybe this is the best ski resort in Spain, and the best known and frequented by sports professionals, since its 146km of tracks and its degree of difficulty makes experts, enjoy more that beginners although there are tracks of lower slope to start, or enjoy, without needing to be an expert. The quality of the snow and its facilities makes it more expensive than the rest. Access by public transport: Bus and train, to Vielha (Lleida). 3-5 hours.
LA MOLINA - MASELLA: it is the closest station to Barcelona, only 160km, and the most suitable, for its difficulty, for beginners, and for those who, without reaching an expert or professional level, want to enjoy and give themselves a good snow festival. The station has 68km of tracks and is very cozy. Just next door is the ski resort of LA MASELLA, it is smaller, 43km of tracks, joined by lifts, this makes, they share many events and competitions. The good thing about these stations is that if you get up a day of fog or rain and you cannot ski, you will not get bored because they have an intense social activity. Access by public transport: Bus and high speed train with enough frequencies: 1 hour and a half.
PORT- AINE: The good thing about this station is that you have a direct bus line from Barcelona. It is in Rialp, in the Pyrenees of Lleida and most of its slopes are oriented north, so it probably has the best snow quality in the Pyrenees. It is perfect for beginners and boasted of the free style snow park. Access by public transport: special bus from Barcelona. 2-3 hours.
BOI -TAULL, SPOT SKI PARC, VALL DEL NURIA, PORT DE COMPTE, are more modest stations.
