New public transportation rates in Barcelona

With the new year, we return to our student residence after a few days of vacation with the family, in which we have disconnected from Barcelona, ​​from classes…. Don't panic, we tell you all about the new public transport rates in Barcelona for 2020 for foreign students in Barcelona.

The first thing you should know is that the cards purchased in 2019 will be valid until the end of February 2020 or until the expiration date, and the quarterly passes will expire at the end of March 2020.

If you have to buy a new transport card, these are the options:

T-usual

It is a personalized card for unlimited trips for 30 days, that is, you can only use it and you cannot “chop” a trip of your companion. It must be accompanied by the ID of the holder and cannot be used by anyone else. When you go to buy it, you must enter your ID number in the vending machine. The price for a tariff zone is 40 euros. It is the best option if you use public transport more than 32 times in a month.

T-casual

For occasional travelers. If you usually go by bike or on foot, but occasionally take the subway because you are late, it rains or you just don't feel like walking, then we recommend that you buy the 10-person one-person card. It can be used by anyone who carries it, but does not allow the trip of more than one person at a time. Price for a tariff zone: 11.35 euros.

T-grup

It is a title designed for the occasional use of public transport by groups. It is a multi-personal card for 70 trips in 30 days, with the same price per trip as the T-casual. The price for a tariff zone: 79.45 euros.

T-familiar

It is a multipersonal card to make 8 trips in 30 consecutive days. Price for a tariff zone: 10 euros. This title will start selling and will take effect on March 1 and will be the best option to use public transport when your family or friends come to visit you for a few days.

As we mentioned at the beginning of this news, the cards acquired in 2019 are still valid in January 2020. We tell you how long:

• The T-10 co-purchased in 2019 can be used until February 29, 2020.
• The T-50/30, T-70/30, T-month, T-month FM / FN general, T-month FM / FN special and T-month bonuses purchased in 2019 are valid until February 29, 2020 or until they expire, if the expiration date is before February 29.
• T-quarter, general FM / FN T-quarter and special FM / FN T-quarter purchased in 2019 may be used until March 31, 2020 or until they expire, if the expiration date was earlier.
