More than one million foreign students come to study in Spain

More than one and a half million students enrolled in Spanish universities in 2017
According to data published by the Ministry of Education, more than 190,000 students have completed master's studies in Spanish universities during the 2017-2018 academic year. This represents a growth of more than 11% over the previous year, and is a growing trend in recent years.
The master's degrees offered by Spanish universities are a powerful attraction for students from all over the world, but especially from Latin America, who are increasingly coming to study in Spain, attracted by the quality of the university.
If we add to this quality in higher education the standard of living, the hospitality of the Spanish people, the climate, and, of course, the wide range of student residences in Barcelona, these are additional motivations for choosing Spain as a study destination.
We continue to provide you with data on the number of international students in Spain, in this case we are talking about doctoral studies. More than 71,500 students enrolled in doctoral studies, that is almost 5% of the university population. And of these university students, one in four is foreign.
If we talk about first or second year degree students, almost half of the foreign students come from the European Union. These students are the main residents of our student residence in Barcelona, as they seek to feel at home in their first years of independence.
Last year alone, around 40,000 students from all over Europe arrived through the "Erasmus" programme. Spain is the country that receives most Erasmus students, followed by Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Italy.
