In a student residence, can I choose a room?

All student residences usually have different types of rooms. You can choose the type of room that most interests you according to your tastes and preferences and also, important, according to the budget you want to allocate.

What types of rooms exist?

Although years ago you could find residences with rooms for up to three people, currently in most residences you will find two basic types of room depending on their occupation: single, for one student, or double, for two students.

Double or single room

Obviously the cheapest option is to choose a double room, which you will share with another boy or girl.

Do I need to book the double room together with another person?

The double room is ideal if you travel with a friend who also wants to share a room. It is a cheaper option than booking two single rooms. 

But the reality is that most students travel alone. If this is your case, you can also book a double room. The residence will be in charge of looking for a student for the other place, of the same sex and if possible, with affinities.

What happens if I don't get along with my roommate?

Although we hope that the case does not arrive, everything is possible so it is a question that you should raise when making the reservation ... If that situation occurs, in most of the residences they will offer you a change of room whenever that option is available.

That is also one of the reasons why many students prefer single room. The single room is a more expensive option, but it allows you to have more privacy and intimacy, and you don't have to agree schedules with your classmates.

With bath or without bath

Once again, the budget makes a difference. The budget, and also the speed in making the reservation, since they are the first "fly" to be the most demanded.

Without a doubt, having a bathroom inside the room provides extra comfort, so if the budget allows it, do not hesitate.

However, in most of the houses there is not a bathroom for each room of the house (hopefully !!) so if you come from a more or less extended family, it is likely that you will not have any problem sharing a bathroom with your roommates home. Normally bathrooms are usually shared with between 2 and 4 students maximum.

Room size

Some residences, besides being able to choose between double or single, with or without bathroom, you can choose the size of the room. Certain races require extra space ... and certain suitcases too. So if you are one of those who want (and can) be at ease, choose a superior room. If you are going to spend a little time in your room and prefer to pay a little less for your room, you may be compensated to book a smaller and therefore economical room. Do not worry, the equipment is usually the same, and the services do not change.
