How to get to Monserrat from your student residence in Barcelona:

This curious mountain is located about 30 kilometers from Barcelona and is very well connected. It is reached by road to the sanctuary, there is a parking with a price € 6.5 per car. If you do not arrive soon, you may no longer find a place, so we recommend you get to Monistrol de Montserrat, park your car there and access the funicular or the cable car. The funicular costs € 6.30 per trip and € 10.50 round trip, and the cable car (or Aeri de Montserrat) costs € 7 one way and € 11 return.

It is also common to combine commuter train and funicular or cable car. You can take the R5 line (Barcelona-Manresa) from the Plaza España station, every hour and stop at both places.

Getaways from Barcelona: La Garrotxa

Just one hour and a half from Barcelona, ​​very close to the Pyrenees, is the region of La Garrotxa. A magical place for nature lovers, where you can find numerous hiking trails.

It is one of the most popular breaks from Barcelona in autumn, when the leaves change color and transform the forest with its orange and brown tones. In addition to the region of La Garrotxa there are very picturesque villages of medieval origin, such as Castellfollit de la Roca or Besalú, which are the ideal complement to their nature.

The easiest thing is to get to La Garrotxa by car. If you prefer to use public transport, you can go by bus to one of its towns, such as Olot, or Castellfollit de la Roca.
