How to succeed in exams
As for everything in life, the most important thing is attitude, your way in which each person faces daily challenges will also affect their success as a student. The psychologist Daniel Goleman, author of the book "Emotional Intelligence", highlights the importance of optimism in students, because being optimistic helps to face challenges and not be frustrated with possible failures.
In the words of Goleman himself: "the magnitude of the concerns that people have while doing a test is proportional to the poverty of their execution". That is to say, if we are worried about suspending an exam (or for other reasons) you will pay less attention to answer the questions properly ... On the other hand, if you manage to control your emotions you can use that anticipatory anxiety to motivate yourself, prepare yourself better and succeed in your exams
But it is clear that no matter how optimistic you are, you also need an adequate study routine. This happens to prepare continuously and not binge you to study the days before the exam, although logically those days intensify the dedication to study. If you can have previous exams, this will help you to have a vision of what is most important or the type of questions that are important.
Avoid studying by heart: Memory is fundamental in all the activities of our daily life, but trying to learn a memory subject is very difficult and, in addition, it will soon be forgotten. You have to use non-rote methods that help to reason and link ideas. Make a global outline of each topic dividing into important parts and putting the details that are hardest for you to remember, can be very useful and will help you visual memory.
Also look for the adequate space that facilitates concentration. Some people prefer to prepare exams at their student residence. Although if you are one of those who prefer libraries or study rooms, find recomendactions here.
Remember to eat well (that's what we take care of with the full board of our student residence) and rest properly to perform more.
When the time comes for the test, remember to keep the positive attitude. Leave worries aside and focus only on that moment.
Before putting yourself to write the answers, for a moment and structure the answer mentally. Also, remember that "good, if brief, twice good" so avoid unnecessary rolls and get to the point in the answer.
In general, it is not advisable to leave a question blank, unless you definitely have no idea about it.
We end with a phrase by Henry Ford "Those who resign are more numerous than those who fail", so go for it!!
